Housing law
About
We offer second-line housing law services to provide concrete responses to the impacts of the housing crisis.
These legal representation services are offered in partnership with housing committees, which provide first-line services directly to tenants who are victims of abusive practices.
Abusive Housing Practices
As a tenant, many legally complex situations may arise: renovictions, illegal or excessive rent increases, violations of repossession rights, intimidation, harassment, or refusal to maintain the dwelling.
How It Works
This program includes the following services and interventions:
- Legal representation before the Tribunal administratif du logement (TAL)
- Specialized advice for housing committees
- Documentation of gaps in current laws as part of strategic litigation
- Concrete recommendations addressed to elected officials as part of advocacy efforts
