About this program
We offer free accompaniment and legal support to victims of sexual harassment in the workplace.
People from the cultural and communications sectors can contact l’Aparté, a Juripop program dedicated to the cultural sector.
What is sexual harassment in the workplace?
Sexual harassment includes any form of unwanted attention or advances with a sexual connotation. It is vexatious conduct (abusive, humiliating, hurtful) manifested through words, gestures or behavior.
A single serious act can also be considered harassment if it leads to lasting negative consequences for the person concerned.
Sexual harassment can occur at all levels of a company’s hierarchy: between managers, between colleagues, between managers and staff. Harassing behavior can also come from customers, suppliers, etc.
How the program works
This legal support and accompaniment program is free of charge, and may include the following services, depending on your situation:
- Listening and legal advice tailored to your situation by a lawyer, in the form of a legal opinion;
- Accompaniment in the recourse procedures that may be undertaken, from drafting to filing a complaint and a claim with the CNESST;
- Preparation, accompaniment, and representation in mediation with the employer;
- Support in CNESST investigation processes;
- Support in contesting a CNESST refusal concerning your complaint or claim;
- Accompaniment by a team of lawyers and socio-judicial interveners specialized in sexual harassment in the workplace.
Eligibility criteria:
These services are available in French and English to workers throughout Quebec.
