Justice Month 2025
For the past 10 years, Justice Month has taken place every March, bringing together dozens of organizations across Quebec to promote equitable access to justice for all. Initiated by Juripop in 2015, this event has become a must-attend for citizens and legal professionals alike. Dedicating an entire month to access to justice is an ambitious but essential idea.
The 2025 edition of Justice Month celebrates a decade of concrete actions to bring justice closer to the population. Conferences, workshops, free consultations, and expert panels will follow one another to evaluate the progress made, identify persistent challenges, and reflect on solutions for a more inclusive justice system.
The Return of Free Legal Clinics in the Metro
Juripop is proud to announce the return of free legal clinics in the Montreal metro, an initiative that allows hundreds of people to be informed about their rights. These legal clinics are made possible thanks to volunteer lawyers and notaries who will offer 15-minute legal consultations at Place-des-Arts station every Thursday in March, from 12 PM to 6 PM. The goal is to meet citizens, equip them, and guide them with their legal questions.
Juripop and its partners aim to support up to 300 citizens through these legal clinics, whose popularity continues to grow each year. The renewal of the partnership with the Société de transport de Montréal allows Juripop and its partners to go directly into the field and inform litigants during their daily commutes. These clinics are intended for the entire population, with particular attention to those who may feel marginalized by the legal system.
These clinics specifically target:
- Tenants concerned about how to respond to an eviction notice or rent increase;
- Individuals seeking advice on the steps to take during their separation or divorce;
- People struggling with managing their relatives’ affairs after their death;
- Employees wanting to understand their rights against unfair treatment by an employer;
- Individuals looking for information on contesting tickets or fines;
- Immigrants facing issues with permit refusals, refugee rights, and citizenship or permanent residence.
Citizens will also be able to meet with Éducaloi, the Centres de justice de proximité, the Clinique pour la justice migrante, and other partners who will also provide information about their year-round services.
The Legal Community Takes Action for Justice Month
Among the dozens of activities offered to the public during March, we highlight:
- The Marathon juridique du Barreau du Québec, which will take place from March 27 to 29, 2025. This national event aims to strengthen the ties between citizens and lawyers working in their community. For three consecutive days, Bar members will host a series of free activities, such as panels, workshops, and legal consultations. This initiative aims to make the law more accessible and to foster a better understanding of legal issues among the general public.
- On March 20, a legal clinic will be held at the BAnQ, organized by the Centre de justice de proximité du Grand Montréal. Lawyers present will provide legal information on various topics, including family law, housing, consumer protection, estates, co-ownership, name or gender marker changes, and labor law.
- In collaboration with the Comité logement du Plateau-Mont-Royal, a free legal clinic specializing in housing law will also be set up to answer tenants’ questions in the neighborhood.
- On March 29, the Palais de justice de Montréal will hold the Visez Droit Rendez-vous, organized by the Montreal Bar Association. This event is a unique opportunity to interact with legal professionals and better understand the judicial system.

“The Société de transport de Montréal is pleased to continue its partnership with Juripop by once again hosting legal clinics at Place-des-Arts station throughout March. The free consultations offered to the public, including vulnerable individuals who transit through the metro, perfectly align with our values of inclusion and our desire to make the STM more humane.”
Marie-Claude Léonard, General Manager of the STM
“Knowing your rights is the first step towards more accessible justice. Justice Month allows hundreds of citizens to receive free legal advice—from notaries or lawyers—and to participate in enriching discussions on the current challenges of our justice system. We renew our support for this initiative year after year, convinced that access to law and justice must be a reality for everyone.”
