Juripop is proud to announce the launch of its new free legal support service for people who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.
A new legal support program at the heart of Juripop’s approach
Juripop is proud to announce the launch of a new free service for people who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. Funded by the Ministère du Travail du Québec, this service aims to support victims by offering them legal advice and personalized support to assert their rights.
As of September 27, employees who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace will be able to benefit from free legal support throughout Quebec.
An Initiative Tailored to Adress On-the-Ground Issues
Sexual harassment in the workplace is a reality that affects a concerning number of Quebecers, across all sectors of activity. These situations, often invisible and difficult to report, impact the health and safety of victims, while also hindering their access to or retention of employment. This new service from Juripop aims to address this issue by providing personalized legal support to those who are experiencing or have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.
The creation of this program stems from the report entitled Mettre fin au harcèlement sexuel dans le cadre du travail : se donner les moyens pour agir (Ending Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: Empowering Action), which reported, among other things, that complainants often lack the legal support they need to understand and exercise their rights. It is precisely this issue that drives Juripop’s mission to improve access to justice for victims and survivors.
Services include legal advice as well as assistance with procedures that may include investigation and mediation. Juripop is also committed to providing an accessible and inclusive service, responding to the specific needs of people from all backgrounds and origins. The service is available free of charge to anyone who has filed a complaint with the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (CNESST).
Finally, the service will benefit from the expertise Juripop has developed on the ground over several years by bringing together its specialized team of lawyers and socio-judicial workers. The goal: to provide inclusive, tailored services that address the needs on the ground and facilitate access to justice for victims and survivors.
Juripop is pleased to collaborate with the CNESST to facilitate the exercise of the rights of people experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace.
